World of Warcraft (wow) Enchanting guide, level 1 – 450

Use this guide to skill up your World of Warcraft Enchanting profession from level 1 to 450. This guide can be used by a beginner or someone who is dropping a profession and taking up Enchanting.

This is the list/things to do and recipes to learn to get to the maximum Enchanting profession level quickly. Some alternatives have been suggested for many recipes. I Sometimes prefer to use a specific Enchant even though the material cost is high for that enchant mainly because that enchant is useful and people want it. So I can do the enchanting with other player’s materials and get my level from it. Results may vary from server to server.

Use the following list to work out what you should be making at what Enchanting skill level for the best cost effective outcome. See the Additional info section below for location of the enchanter trainers in Northrend.

How to Reduce PC Memory Usage With Minimem

Computer memory is in high demand as you play, err, work on your computer, and performance can take a big hit when it runs low. Control the programs that use more than their share of memory using the Windows program Minimem, which moves unused or unnecessary memory pages to the hard drive. I tried it on Firefox 3, Kallout, Windows Explorer, SpyBot Search and Destroy and a few other processes, most of which seemed to use less memory after being “Minimemed.”

Remember that not all programs should be optimized with Minimem. Some programs manage memory usage well on their own, so you won’t see a difference when trying to optimize that process. It might also have a good reason to keep information in memory, and using Minimem to force it to unload that information will therefore not be a good idea. It might be holding data in memory to help performance (since reading from the hard drive is slower). It is possible that using Minimem to “optimize” a process that doesn’t need it might actually make it run slower, so only optimize where you have to.

Minimem is good for programs that run in the background but you don’t use all the time. Kallout is a good example, it gives options to look up highlighted terms on a bunch of search, reference, video, news and other sites. It gives some handy features but I don’t use them all the time, and it tends to have a pretty big memory footprint.

Another good use is for programs with memory leaks like Firefox 2. Programs like this keep information in memory for longer than they should, and continue to build up more clutter as you use them. Chances are that it will not need most of the information it accumulates, so optimizing with Minimem will help.

I highly recommend Minimem for any power user, especially if you’re running on older hardware. It requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, which is supported on Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 or Server 2008 (Linux and Mac users probably don’t have any performance issues anyway, right? D ).

How to hide text/contents in a image (MAC)

Have you ever wanted to send sensitive information to someone else over the internet? I’m sure you must’ve felt a little paranoid about your details getting stolen along the way. Ever wished there was a way to send messages across to a friend without others knowing? Or even not having the slightest hint that you’re sending a secret message? Do you need a way to disguise your message so that no one could tell anything from plainly looking at it?

Magicians often use this method to distract their audiences away from what is really happening — it’s called misdirection. This is mainly to get someone to focus their attention on something, while you’re performing something totally different.

I’m going to reveal a method to disguise your “sensitive” or “secret” messages within plain photos. Watch closely.

The method is called steganography. It is the science of writing hidden messages in a way that only the sender and recipient will know that there even is a hidden message. Now, if I didn’t tell you that there was a message within the photo above, would you have even known? Tina also discussed steganography back in June for Windows computers and her article is also definately worth reading.

The application featured here today is iSteg. As the name goes, it uses steganography to conceal messages within photos. Think of it as “invisible ink”, if you will.

Using iSteg is pretty easy. You simply enter a pass-phrase, select the picture file as the disguise, select the text file you wish to conceal within it; and click on ‘Process’. The only criteria which must be fulfilled in order for iSteg to work is:

  • Both the sender and recipient must have iSteg on their computers
  • The text file must be plain text

Everything else is set for you automatically by default.

The output photo is aptly named ‘output.jpg’. Renaming it won’t ruin the encryption so go ahead and rename it whatever you like. In order to extract the hidden message, the recipient will need to re-enter the same pass-phrase used before and select the photo with the secretly hidden message. The only change here is to uncheck the ‘Encode’ box. Then hit ‘Process’ and the message will be revealed.

Now you are able to send anything and no one will even have a clue. Just bear in mind that this method is more about the fun of sending secret messages. Don’t rely on it to encode your sensitive personal information into your photos and never expect anyone to find out.

How To Upgrade Your WordPress Blog Automatically

Call me the upgrade freak as I always have to have the latest versions of everything.
But there was one exception: the WordPress installation on my blogs.
The reason was that upgrading WordPress was not a walk in the park.

If it’s just about downloading the latest version, then there wouldn’t be any problem. Unfortunately, the process also involves backing-up the database,
deactivating the plugins, uploading the latest installation files
(which could be a hellish experience, especially on an unstable and
slow internet connection), upgrading the database, reactivating the
plugins, and upgrading the plugins (if needed). Add to that the
possibilities of crushing your blog entirely and you have the perfect
combination of reasons not to try to upgrade.

So when the latest version – 2.6 – of WordPress
was released, my fingers started to tickle again. I was tempted. Still,
I was not 100% sure if I was up to the task of upgrading. But then I
came across a very useful plugin called: WordPress Automatic Upgrade.

As the name suggest, this plugin:

    -Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
    -Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
    -Downloads the latest files and unzips them.
    -Puts the site in maintenance mode.
    -De-activates all active plugins and remembers them.
    -Upgrades WordPress files.
    -Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade your installation.
    -Re-activates the plugins.

The plugin can also can be run in the automatic mode where you only have to click on one button and let it do the rest. Sweet!

To be able to use this plugin, you’ll need to install it first. If you’ve read and followed the tips in my previous article about WordPress, you can do the installation easily from within your WordPress admin panel. All you need is the file download link.

Otherwise, you can:

    – download the file,
    – unzip it,
    – then using an FTP application, throw everything inside that archive to folder “/wp-content/plugins/” of your WordPress installation location.
    – go to your “Plugin” tab within your Admin panel and click “activate”.


A quick note before you upgrade, you need to have permission to write
the files and folders within your WordPress installation. If you don’t
have that permission, at least you must know the details for the FTP
account. Please ask the admin of your server regarding this information.

If everything is set, you can begin the upgrading process. There are two options:

    1. Using the step by step process will ensure a successful
    installation. Just follow the step by step “Click Here” instructions,
    and everything should be fine.

    2. Using the automatic process will free you from the hassles as
    everything is only one click away, but this option doesn’t always work.
    It depends on your authority status and the Chmod setting of your
    Wordpress files and folders.

My suggestion is to go with the automatic mode first. Then if this
has failed, you can switch to the manual step by step process.

Congratulations, now your WordPress is up to date – and will always
be, easily. Personally, I think the 2.6 version is more comfortable to
use. But there is more to upgrading than just to feel more comfortable.

The main reason is security. You will know yourself that the world
is full of people who have nothing better to do than to find the
loopholes of any application and exploit those holes (or maybe they are
paid to do so). Therefore, developers have to continuously provide
patches while improving product features. So that’s exactly another
reason to keep up with the latest version: more goodies to enjoy!

Multiple Yahoo Messenger tips and tricks

If you want to run or want to log in yahoo messenger with the user id from one or more user-id in a different PC then you need not bother looking for software for it. You need to do is make a few tweaks in the Windows Registry.

Follow this steps:

1. Start>> Run …>> regedit
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER>> Software>> yahoo>> pager>> test
3. right-click>> New>> DWORD value
4. Give the name Plural hit enter 2 times and give value 1.

To run it, please run Yahoo Messenger, and if you want to log in with a different id, Yahoo Messenger click the shortcut on the Start Menu / Desktop /. After you click the window will display the new Yahoo messenger, and please login with a different id.

If, after running the above steps but you do not succeed, try logging out of Yahoo Messenger and Exit, then run again from the shortcut available. If you still can not, try restarting your Windows
